George Fernandez Jr.

ā€œStanding up for working families. Strengthening opportunity. Making sure every voice counts.ā€

George Fernandez Jr., MSW, LCP, AMHA, is a longtime advocate for working people, families, and communities too often left out of the decisions that affect them. His career spans labor, social work, public service, crisis intervention, and small business, giving him a grounded understanding of the challenges families face and the leadership needed to solve them.

Background

  • Vice President of United Steelworkers Local 9265 and labor representative advocating for fair wages, healthcare, working conditions, and employee rights
  • Former three-term Chairman of Manhattan Community Board 12, representing more than 200,000 residents
  • Experienced social worker and chaplain supporting individuals and families through complex challenges and crisis
  • Owner and operator of Teaneck's The Well Purified Water for more than a decade
  • Master of Social Work graduate, Magna Cum Laude with Distinction in Field Education

Why I’m Running

I'm running because working families deserve a stronger voice in the decisions that shape Teaneck. I want to bring my experience in advocacy, negotiation, community leadership, and small business to the Council, fighting for affordability, opportunity, responsive government, and a Teaneck where every family has the chance to thrive.
